A vegetable and livestock farm that utilizes natural agricultural practices.
Modern dishes that capture the flavors of the season. A truly unique dining experience.
Tucked into the wooded hills just outside of Woodstock's center, The Barn at Peace Field Farm is a farm-to-table restaurant and event space built on land that has been working since 1915 — when the Nelson family settled here with 65 dairy cows on 194 acres of fertile soil. The Nelsons harvested hay, grew vegetables, raised livestock and split their own firewood, and the Nelson Farm stood at the center of the Woodstock community for generations. Peace Field Farm carries that heritage forward, practicing free-range farming.
The Barn was raised in 2018 by seasoned Vermont builders Steve Johnson and Kenny Epworth. Matt Lombard and his culinary team prepare meals that taste like the land it came from — seared steak on crisp corn cakes with pickled onion and bright salsa verde, whole roasted carrots dressed in herb cream and toasted sunflower seeds, sweet squash and charred carrots tossed with pomegranate and feta, heirloom tomatoes plated with candy-stripe beets and a swirl of balsamic. Come for dinner, come for an event, come as you are — the food is grown close by, the room is warm, and the view out the window is still a working Vermont farm.
